Mayowa Kubikisha, 28, "seemed a little off," according to staff, after she pulled into the parking at Memorial Elementary School after the end of the school day on Thursday, May 9, Montvale Police Chief Douglas McDowell said.

They became concerned and called his officers, the chief said.

They had reason to be: Kubikisha registered a blood alcohol level of 0.33%, he said, more than four times the legal limit to drive in New Jersey.

"The child was never in danger and was not in the vehicle at any time," McDowell emphasized. "Another guardian was called to pick up the child."

Kubikisha was charged with DWI and released to a responsible adult under John's Law.

Police also notified the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency, the chief said.
